DETROIT PISTONS SELECT RON HOLLAND II WITH THE FIFTH PICK IN THE 2024 NBA DRAFT

DETROIT, Mich. (June 26, 2024) – The Detroit Pistons announced that the club has selected forward Ron Holland II with the fifth overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Holland, 6-7, 197, averaged 19.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.4 steals and 0.9 blocks in 31.9 minutes across 29 games in 2023-24 for the G League Ignite of the NBA G League. Ranked as the No. 2 overall prospect by ESPN in the Class of 2023, Holland was named the 2022-23 Gatorade Texas Player of the Year and a 2023 McDonald’s High School All-American.

A native of Duncanville, Texas, Holland led the Ignite in scoring and steals and eclipsed 30 points four times. Originally committed to play for the University of Texas before joining the Ignite, he won gold medals with USA Basketball at the 2021 FIBA Americas U16 Championship and 2022 FIBA U17 World Cup. The 18-year-old was named a First Team MaxPreps All American in his senior year at Duncanville High School after averaging 20.3 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.0 steals in 2022-23.

Holland is the fifth top-five selection for the Pistons since 1995 (Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey, Ausar Thompson and Darko Milicic) and the third consecutive fifth overall pick made by the franchise.
