The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the final singles rankings for the 2023-24 season. Four Gators were among the top 125 collegiate players, and Rachel Gailis led the way for Florida at No. 10.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released the Year-End Rankings on Wednesday, featuring four Gators in the singles category. Rachel Gailis, Carly Briggs, Sara Dahlstrom, and Qavia Lopez sit among the top 125 college tennis players in the nation and receive their rank after the conclusion of the 2024 season.
Florida’s Rachel Gailis topped the charts with a No. 10 ranking to solidify an All-American honor. Gailis peaked in the 2024 ITA rankings at No. 7 (Apr. 23) after a seven-match win streak. In her sophomore season, Gailis defeated seven nationally-ranked opponents and tallied her largest career win over then-ranked No. 7 Ayana Akli of South Carolina. Overall Gailis went 22-8 in singles this year and held an impressive 9-2 record in SEC play. Gailis was also named First Team All-SEC and received an automatic bid into the 2024 NCAA Singles Championships.
After an impressive senior season, Carly Briggs sits at No. 57 in the ITA rankings. Briggs controlled the No. 3 singles position for the Gators, posting a final 8-2 SEC record and earning an at-large bid to the 2024 NCAA Singles Championships. Briggs was also named to the 2024 SEC All-Tournament Team after going undefeated in both the singles and doubles categories. Rounding out her final season as a Gator, Briggs went on a nine-match win streak and posted her largest-season victory over then-ranked No. 19 Nicole Khirin of Texas A&M.
Next in the rankings for Florida is Sara Dahlstrom at No. 76. Dahlstrom defeated three ranked players during her final year as a Gator, including a win over then-ranked No. 25 Alexandra Vecic of Georgia. Dahlstrom’s win over Vecic marked her largest win of the season and was claimed during her four-match win streak in SEC play. Dahlstrom occupied the No. 2 singles position for most of the 2024 season, finished conference play with a 5-2 record, and closed out her college career with a set of wins in the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament.
Qavia Lopez rounded out the ITA rankings for the Gators at No. 119. The freshman made a statement in her first year at Florida, being the first player in program history to earn the SEC Freshman of the Week award three times. Lopez was also selected to the SEC All-Freshman team after posting a 10-2 conference record which included a five-match win streak. Lopez ends the season with a 23-11 overall record, tallying the most wins on the 2023-24 Gators roster.
