UF S&D: Liendo Qualifies for 2024 Paris Olympics

He will make his second Olympic appearance representing Team Canada.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Josh Liendo will make his second Olympic Games appearance, as the current Gator swept his three events in qualifying time, while setting two Canadian records at the Canadian Olympic Trials this past week.

Liendo claimed victory in the 100m fly after clocking a 50.06 to reset his Canadian record that he set during prelims. He shaved nearly three tenths off his morning time of 50.33 to swim a career best.

His 21.48 in the 50m free lowered his previous Canadian record, 21.61, while also matching his personal-best time in the 100m free, 47.55 to go two-for-two in his freestyle events.

Additionally, five current or former Gators competed this past week, but did not make the Olympic Qualifying Standard: Eric Brown, Ben Cote, Ed Fullum-Huot, Nina Kucheran and Mabel Zavaros. Their results can be found below.

Eric Brown competed in four events and finished first in the 1500m free, while securing second in the 400m & 800m free.
