UF SB: Otis Named USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Top 10 Finalist

Junior Korbe Otis is the only player in the country with 70-plus hits and runs scored along with 50-plus RBI and walks.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Junior outfielder Korbe Otis of the Florida softball team was named as a USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Top 10 Finalist early Wednesday afternoon by USA Softball.

Otis a standout junior from Littleton, Co., earns a spot as a Top 10 finalist for the prestigious award for the first time in her career. In addition, she has also earned SEC All-Tournament Team accolades, All-SEC First Team honors and was named SEC Player of the Week twice this season.

The talented outfielder ranks second nationally in batting average (.467) and has 71 hits, 70 runs scored, 50 RBI and 53 walks. She enters the NCAA Tournament as the only player in the country with 70-plus hits and runs scored in addition to 50-plus RBI and walks.

The numbers that Otis has put up this season, which are similar to Skylar Wallace’s record setting 2023 campaign, have her on track to set a few UF single-season records this season as she currently ranks first in batting average (.467) and on base percentage (.596).

Lauren Haeger & Kelly Barnhill are the only Gators to have won the prestigious award. Haeger earned the title in 2015 after leading Florida to the program’s second national championship and Barnhill secured the honor after having a historic season in 2017.

The Top 3 Finalists set to be released on May 20, while the 2024 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will be revealed prior to the Women’s College World Series, which is scheduled to take place May 30 through June 7, at the Softball Capital of the World(r).
