4/26/2024 | No. 19 Women’s Beach Volleyball YOUNGSVILLE, La. – No. 3-seed Florida Atlantic beach Volleyball took down No. 2-seed FIU and fell in a tight battle against No. 1-seed TCU on day two of the CUSA Championships on Saturday. The Sandy Owls will get one more chance to punch their ticket to the CUSA Championship finals on Saturday, April 27 as they face off against No. 5-seed Tulane at 10 a.m. ET.Florida Atlantic moved to 18-18 on the season, while FIU fell to 21-10 and TCU improved to 28-7. NO. 3 FLORIDA ATLANTIC 3 – NO. 2 FIU 2 Courtney Moon and Marketa Svozilova gave the Sandy Owls the opening 1-0 lead with a straight-set win on court two against FIU’s Alice Pratesi and Lisa Luini, 21-16, 21-15. FIU tied the match at 1-1 with a win on court one. Ashleigh Adams and Julie Honzovicova fell in two-sets against FIU’s top pair of Giada Bianchi and Reka Orsi Toth, 21-18, 21-18. The Sandy Owls bounced back in front 2-1 after earning a straight-set win on court five from Kendall Mignerey and Sloane Woolwine, who defeated the Panthers’ Zoe Cahill and Hania Taduran, 21-15, 21-17. FIU tied up the match at two all with a win on court three. The Sandy Owls’ Mikayla Law-Heese and Olivia Strandberg fell in a tight three-set battle against the Panthers’ Lucie Pokorna and Zuzanna Bielak, 21-17, 14-21, 16-14. It all came down to court four. Florida Atlantic’s Logan Mignerey and Kate McLaughlin clinched the upset against FIU as they secured a three-set win against the Panthers’ Lauren Huggins and Kendra Brown, 19-21, 21-11, 15-11.Scores 1.
