UF SB: Rothrock Selected to 2024 TUCCI/NFCA DI Freshman of the Year Top 25 List

Freshman right-handed pitcher Keagan Rothrock was named to the prestigious list Thursday afternoon.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Freshman Keagan Rothrock of the Florida softball program was named to the 2024 TUCCI/NFCA DI Freshman of the Year Top 25 list by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association early Thursday afternoon.

Rothrock, much like her fellow freshmen, has made a significant impact on the Gators program in her debut season. The Whiteland, Ind., native currently holds a 18-5 record this year with her 18 wins ranking fifth nationally among all freshmen pitchers and third all-time among UF freshmen tied with Aleshia Ocasio (2015).

The right-handed hurler is ranked third nationally among freshmen pitchers in shutouts with five on the season. In addition, Rothrock has hurled a pair of no-hitters and has spun a trio of one-hitters that includes against the likes of No. 11 Alabama and No. 14 Missouri.

Rothrock has also notched a season-high 36.0 inning scoreless inning streak earlier this year, which was the longest scoreless inning streak by a UF pitcher since Kelly Barnhill tallied a 37.0-inning scoreless streak in 2018.

Overall this season, the talented hurler has been named SEC Freshman of the Week two times, D1Softball Freshman of the Week twice and Softball America’s Freshman Pitcher of the Month (February).

Rothrock is the first Florida freshman, sixth all-time, to be named to the NFCA DI Freshman of the Year Top 25 since fellow teammate Kendra Falby. They Gators have won one NFCA DI Freshman of the Year award as Amanda Lorenz was bestowed the honor in 2016.
