4/19/2024 | Baseball | Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla. – C.J. Williams delivered a complete game shutout to lead Florida Atlantic baseball to a 5-0 victory over Tulane on Friday night. It was the program’s first CG shutout since Brandon Rhodes went the distance in a 1-0 win over Georgetown on March 5, 2016. THE BEGINNING Williams allowed a leadoff walk in the second and leadoff single in the fourth. He escaped both situations with little stress by inducing ground ball double plays. THE TURNING POINT The FAU offense gave their starter all the run support he would need with a four-run lead after three innings. The big hit came off the bat of Brando Leroux in the bottom of the third. A bases loaded double to the left field corner brought three runs across. THE FINISH Andrew McKenna added an RBI single in the seventh to make it 5-0. With his pitch count still in good shape, Williams retired the Green Wave in order in the eighth and worked around a one-out double in the ninth to finish what he started.
