SB | Owls Tie the Series Against Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Florida Atlantic softball team (31-9, 11-3 AAC) tied the series at 1-1 with the 49ers in a 4-2 victory on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Owls improve their record to 31-9 and 11-3 in the American Athletic Conference. After the game this afternoon, Florida Atlantic has sole possession of first place in the AAC.

THE GAME

The Niners took the lead early in the game but that did not stop the Owls from answering back in the fourth inning. Back-to-back home runs by Kamryn Jackson and Jesiana Mora tied the game.

Shortstop Kiley Channell reached on an error by Charlotte, and Cameryn Orland scored to take the lead. Left fielder Kylie Hammonds hit an RBI double to extend the lead in the seventh inning.

Junior Gabby Sacco started in the circle for Florida Atlantic. Sacco picked up another win and improved her record to 9-2 on the season. In the sixth inning, Ainsley Lambert went in relief of Sacco to close the game, recording her sixth save of the season.

  • Orland registered two doubles in today’s game, she went 2-for-3 with two runs
