3/23/2024 | Softball | Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic softball team captured two games at Memphis on Saturday, clinching the three-game series and their third American Athletic Conference series in as many weekends. The first game of the day, played on Saturday due to poor weather on Friday, was a 12-1, five-inning win for the Owls. The second was a little closer with a 7-1 seven-inning Florida Atlantic win. QUOTABLE “Great series win for the program,” said Head Softball Coach Jordan Clark. “Winning two games in one day is really tough and I couldn’t be prouder of the girls. I’m excited to see them compete tomorrow and fight for the sweep!” GAME ONE The Owls took control of the game in the top of the first scoring two. They gave up a solo homer in the bottom half of the inning but never looked back with starter Gabby Sacco allowing just one more hit, a single in the fourth. On the flip side, the Owls scored in every inning enroute to a 12-1 victory. In fact, they scored multiple runs in four out of the five innings played. GAME TWO Game one offensive star Trinity Schlotterbeck who belted two homers and drove in three, started in the circle for the Owls and held Memphis to one run through five innings of work. She gave way to Ainsley Lambert who faced the minimum number of batters in two innings, striking out the last five she faced. Along the way, the Owls capitalized on five hits and eight walks for the 7-1 final. NOTES/NOTABLE Kiley Channell was 2-for-3 in both games (4-for-6) collecting three runs, three doubles and six RBI Both Schlotterbeck and Cameryn Orland were 3-for-3 in game one, Schlotterbeck had two homers in game one and drove in three runs while Orland scored two and drove in two. The second game saw the duo’s bats held quiet although Schlotterbeck added an RBI to her day’s workFirst baseman Zoey Jones was 3-for-7 on the dayThree FAU pitchers took the circle on Saturday. The trio allowed two runs, six hits and struck out 13 NEXT UP The Owls will wrap up the Memphis series at 2 p.m. EST on Sunday. Florida Atlantic remains on the road playing at Stetson on Tuesday, Mar. 26 at 5 p.m. All three games will be broadcast on ESPN+.
