TULSA, OK, March 16, 2024 – The University of South Florida softball team (22-10, 2-3 AAC) fell to the Tulsa Golden Hurricane (17-8, 4-1 AAC) on Saturday afternoon. The Bulls lost with a score of 3-0.
Tulsa took the 2-0 lead in the opening frame. A single, two stolen bases and a Bulls error allowed one run to score. The Golden Hurricane added another run on an RBI single. The Golden Hurricane added a run in the third inning with an RBI double, their first extra-base hit of the series.
South Florida had the bases loaded in the first inning with three walks, but nothing came of it. The next base-runner for the Bulls was in the fourth inning when Tieley Vaughn (Wesley Chapel) reached on a fielding error by the Golden Hurricane’s shortstop.
The Bulls earned their first base hit of the game in the top of the seventh with a double to left center from Sam Mallinder (Plainfield, Ill.).
Payton Dixon (Smyrna, Del.) earned her 13th start of the season. In the six innings pitched, she retired six batters. Dixon only allowed one walk.

- She now has 87 strikeouts this season.
