The Providence Friars (7) faced off against the Georgetown Hoyas (10) in a thrilling game this afternoon. Although Providence led by double digits early on, Georgetown’s resilience and tenacity kept the game competitive. Despite shooting just 32.3% from the field and 40% from the free-throw line in the first half, the Hoyas never gave up. Providence went on a run at the start of the second half, but the Hoyas battled back to within 10 points with four minutes remaining. However, the Friars’ star player and Big East Player of The Year Devin Carter, hit a clutch 3-pointer and a layup to seal the victory. Although Georgetown struggled in this game, Coach Ed Cooley’s leadership and track record in the conference suggest that the future is bright for the Hoyas.
Up next for Providence is a date with Creighton Thursday at 7pm
