UF WGOLF | Archer Places Top-10, Gators Finish Sixth at Briar’s Creek Invitational

Freshman Inès Archer posted a T7 finish with a 54-hole score of 215 (-1).

JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. – Inès Archer finished top-10 as the Florida women’s team took sixth at the Briar’s Creek Invitational on Tuesday.

The Gators recorded a team score of 875 (+11) as Michigan State won the tournament shooting 860 (-4). Florida finishes the regular season at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic from March 29-30 before the SEC Championship (April 12-16) at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida.

Archer led UF with a T7 outing, her second top-10 and fourth top-25 of the season. She finished with a tournament score of 215 (-1), one shot behind her season best. Her first two rounds of 70 (-2) yesterday set a new season-low for the freshman.

Another first-year Gator had a strong outing in Paul Francisco, who tied for 21st. The outing marked her third top-25 this season and back-to-back to start the spring.

All shooting their best rounds of the event were the next three in the lineup in Maisie Filler (T29), Jackie Lucena (T39) and Sophie Stevens (T58). Filler and Stevens both shot even par rounds of 72. The round was a six-shot improvement from her first two rounds for Stevens and for Filler she battled back to even par after two bogeys to start her final round.

Competing as individual, Sarunchana Rattanasin finished T80.
