Tampa, Fla., Mar. 4, 2024 – South Florida women’s basketball (17-13, 9-8) heads to the Lone Star City to close out the regular season at SMU (14-14, 8-9) on Tuesday night. Tipoff is slated for 8:00 p.m. ET and the game will stream live on ESPN+.
SETTING THE STAGE
The Bulls are looking to sweep their third opponent of the campaign. SMU has captured three of its last five contests and is coming off of a 91-73 loss at Tulsa.
THE SOUTH FLORIDA-SMU SERIES
South Florida holds a 17-1 advantage in the all-time series. The Bulls are riding a five-game win streak against the Mustangs. USF captured the last pairing, 70-61, in Tampa earlier this season.
LAST TIME OUT
South Florida swept Tulane with a tight, 53- 51, victory in Tampa on Saturday night. Redshirt junior forward Romi Levy’s 21 points and eight rebounds led the Bulls. Levy recorded her 10th 20-plus point game of the season on Saturday night. Senior guard Maria Alvarez (10 points) put up double-figures for the third time this season. Alvarez’s 10-point output marked the most she has had in a game this season since scoring 16 points in the win against Charleston Southern (Nov. 30).
BULL LEADERS
Redshirt junior forward Romi Levy leads South Florida with a 14.9 scoring average (11th in The American). Levy has earned AAC Honor Roll five times this season. Freshman guard Vittoria Blasigh (13.4 ppg.) is the second Bull averaging double-digit points. Blasigh (71 3PM) is third among NCAA Freshman in total 3-pointers made and has earned AAC Freshman of the Week six times this season. Senior forward Evelien Lutje Schipholt leads on the glass with 8.0 rebounds per contest, which ranks 7th in the American. Redshirt senior guard Aerial Wilson dishes out a team-best 4.6 assists per contest. Wilson’s 138 total assists ranks 2nd in the American. Wilson (485 career assists) has claimed sole possession of 7th place on the AAC Career Assist Index.
AAC BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP TICKETS
For the fourth consecutive year, The American’s Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships will be contested at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. Both Championships expand to 14 teams this season with The Women’s Championship running March 9-13. Ticket packages for the Women’s Championship will be $85 per package.
