American Athletic Conference Announces 2024 Indoor Track & Field Performances Of The Year

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the 2024 American Indoor Track & Field Most Outstanding Performance awards, with student-athletes from Memphis, Rice, South Florida, UTSA and Wichita State collecting honors following the American Indoor Track & Field Championships meet on Feb. 23-24.

The awards are presented to student-athletes who recorded the highest-ranking marks on the NCAA’s Division I performance list during last week’s American Indoor Track & Field Championships. South Florida junior Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, Wichita State’s junior Brady Palen, Memphis’ junior Madison Fleming, Rice’s junior Eliza Kraule and UTSA’s freshman Ida Breigan were each recognized for exemplary meet marks.

MEN’S INDOOR TRACK MOST OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE

Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, Jr., South Florida – 60-Meter Dash

Saminu ran a personal best time of 6.57 seconds in the 60-meter dash during the preliminaries.  His time tied the American Athletic Conference Championship record for the 60-meter dash and is the 12th fastest time in the nation heading into the NCAA Championships.

MEN’S INDOOR FIELD MOST OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE

Brady Palen, Jr., Wichita State – High Jump

Palen took home the gold medal in high jump, clearing a height of 2.18 meters. He performance at The American Championships moved him to the 20th best performance in the nation heading into the NCAA Championships.

WOMEN’S INDOOR TRACK MOST OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE

Madison Fleming, Jr., Memphis – 60-Meter Hurdles

Fleming earned a gold medal at The American Championships last week, clocking an 8.17 second 60-meter hurdles. It is the fastest time ran in The American this year and is the 26th fastest time in the NCAA.

WOMEN’S INDOOR FIELD MOST OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE

Eliza Kraule, Jr., Rice – Pentathlon

Kraule smashed the pentathlon record at The American Championships with 4,335 total points.  She set the pentathlon long jump record in the process with a leap of 6.26 meters. Her point total in the pentathlon is the third most in the nation this season.

Ida Breigan, Fr., UTSA – Long Jump

Already the owner of The American long jump record, Breigan went out and broke it again at The American Championships with a leap of 6.58 meters.  She earned the gold medal in the event and has the third-best long jump in the nation.
