Gilligan Continues Streak, Gators in Contention at Southern Highlands
Ian Gilligan shot his eighth consecutive round of par or better this spring with Florida four back from the lead.

LAS VEGAS – Florida men’s golfer Ian Gilligan continued his streak of par or better rounds as the No. 16 Gators are in convention for the team title at the Southern Highlands Collegiate.

Florida finished the second round tied for 3rd with Texas at 3-over par through two rounds and enter tomorrow’s final round four shots back from leader Oklahoma (-1) at Southern Highlands Golf Club.

The native of Reno, N.V., Gilligan turned in his eighth consecutive round of par or better and seventh straight under par with a 71 (-1). He sits in solo second at 6-under and is two-shots back of leader Jack Lundin from Missouri. The individual champion will receive an exemption into the Shriners Children’s Open, which will take place Oct. 12-15, 2023, at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas.

Matthew Kress and Tyler Wilkes are tied for 26th through 36 holes. Wilkes had Florida’s second lowest round with a 76 (+4) followed by Kress’ 77 (+5). The final counting round came from Luke Poulter, who also shot a 77 (+5).

Parker Bell and John DuBois are both T57.
