BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University’s women’s cross country team took seventh place at the 2019 Sunshine State Conference (SSC) Championships on Saturday morning, anchored by Alexandra Jones’ 23rd place finish.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
· Jones led the Fighting Knight women with a mark of 24:15.1.
· Freshman Payton Yoder followed Jones a minute and a half later, crossing the line in 25:43.4 to take 44th.
· Taryn Super was just behind Yoder with a time of 25:53.6 to round out Lynn’s top-three.
· Emily Christensen and Chase Yoder finished off the list of ‘counted scores’ for the Blue and White, inside the top-5.
· Jayden Reece, Lauren Leckenby, Mandi Cohhen, Angela Kashkimbayeva and Lynn Whalen all ran to complete the Lynn contingent on the women’s side.
BEYOND THE FINISH LINE:
· Significant rainfall, during the night and morning before the race, slowed down the course.
· This is Jones second-straight year finishing in the top-two for the Blue and White at the SSC Championships.
· Tampa was the winner on the women’s side followed by Saint Leo and Embry-Riddle.
· Tampa’s Zoe Jarvis and Aspen Gordon took the top-two spots to pace the Spartans.

Both squads will head to Holloway Park in Lakeland, Fla. for the NCAA South Regional, hosted by SSC-institution Florida Southern, on Nov. 9 at 8 a.m.
