BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic Owls (6-14, 1-8 AAC) are back in Paradise this weekend as they get ready to host the Rice Owls (12-8, 6-3 AAC) for their National Girls & Women in Sports Day game. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. inside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena.

- As a team, the Owls ranks second in the AAC in fouls per game (15.0) and 3-point percentage (.327), sixth in 3-pointers per game (6.1) and free throw attempts per game (18.7), and seventh in bench points per game (21.2).
- Florida Atlantic’s offense is led by Aniya Hubbard, who boasts a team-best 19.4 points per game.
- Mya Perry is the Owls’ leading 3-point shooter and ranks second on the team in scoring, turning in 12.8 points per game.
- Jada Moore is the Owls’ assists leader, dishing out 1.9 assists per contest, and ranks third on the team in scoring, averaging 10.5 points per game to round out the Owls’ double-figure scorers.
- Defensively, Janeta Rozentale is the Owls’ leader on the boards, collecting 8.9 rebounds per game, while Hubbard and Dyllan Hanna lead the team in steals and blocks, tallying 2.6 steals per game and 0.9 blocks per game, respectively.

- The Owls couldn’t overcome second-quarter struggles on Wednesday, falling in a hard-fought road battle against the UAB Blazers in Birmingham, Alabama.
- Aniya Hubbard, Mya Perry, and Alexa Zaph turned in double-figure performances to lead the Owls.
- Hubbard tallied her seventh 20-point game of the season, scoring a game-leading 23 points, shooting 53 percent (10-of-19) from the field, in addition to pulling down four boards, dishing our three assists, grabbing three steals, and blocking a shot.
- Perry scored a team second-best 19 points, marking her team-leading 14th double-figure performance this season. She shot 41 percent (7-of-17) from the field, 43 percent (3-of-7) from beyond the arc, and a perfect 100 percent (2-of-2) from the line, while also tallying a rebound, an assist, and a steal.
- Zaph scored 12 points for the Owls, shooting 33 percent (2-of-6) from the field, 40 percent (2-of-5) from 3-point range, and going a perfect 100 percent (6-of-6) at the line. She also collected three boards, dished out three assists, and snagged two steals.
- Florida Atlantic outscored UAB 25-23 in the third and tied the Blazers 21-21 in the first and 19-19 in the fourth.
- The Owls outscored the Blazers in the paint 36-26, in points off turnovers, 21-13, in fast break opportunities, 12-6, and in bench production, 28-21.
SCOUTING RICE
- Rice enters this weekend’s matchup at 12-8 on the season and 6-3 in league play. The Owls snapped a two-game skid this past Wednesday, earning a 69-60 win against the SMU Mustangs.
- Rice is in its third season under head coach Lindsay Edmonds. At the helm, Coach Edmonds has led the Owls to a 49-30 record during her three seasons in Houston.
- As a team, Rice leads the AAC in bench points per game (24.8), in addition to ranking third in free throw percentage (.763) and turnovers per game (14.8), fourth in scoring margin (6.0), turnover margin (3.25), and winning percentage (.600), and fifth in 3-point percentage (.317), 3-pointers per game (6.2), 3-point attempts per game (19.4), and turnovers forced per game (18.1).
- Offensively, Rice is led by Dominique Ennis, Malia Fisher, and Destiny Jackson, who are averaging 13.2, 11.3, and 11.1 points per game, respectively.
- Jackson is the Owls’ assists leader, averaging 3.4 assists per game.
- Fisher leads Rice on the boards, grabbing 7.2 rebounds per contest this season, while Ennis leads the Owls in steals, collecting 1.5 steals per game, and Hailey Adams leads the team in blocks, denying 0.8 shots per game.
SERIES HISTORY
- Florida Atlantic trails 2-7 in the all-time series against Rice, including a 1-4 record when playing in Boca Raton. The Owls are on a seven-game losing streak against Rice, having earned their last win, 82-70, on Feb. 21, 2015. In the last meeting between the two teams, Rice captured a 76-61 victory last season on March 2, 2023.
