American Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Release – January 30

ON DECK IN THE AMERICAN

Five games are on the schedule for Wednesday, including all four Texas schools playing in Texas.  North Texas will travel to UTSA, while SMU will head to Houston to take on Rice.  On Thursday, Tulsa will travel to East Carolina, while Memphis hosts South Florida.

MEAN GREEN STAND ALONE

With a win over UAB on Sunday, North Texas took over sole possession of first place in The American. At 7-1 in conference play, North Texas holds a one game lead over Tulsa and UAB.  The Mean Green will travel for a pair of road games this week, beginning with a trip to San Antonio to take on UTSA on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+ before taking on Tulsa for another tough road test on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET.

CRASHING THE GLASS

The American features three teams in the Top 10 of the NCAA in offensive rebounds per game.  Memphis (5th) averages 17.2 offensive rebounds per game, Temple (7th) averages 16.8 rebounds per game, and UTSA (9th) averages 16.3 offensive rebounds per game.

DYNAMIC DUO

Sitting in second place in The American, Tulsa has been led this season by their duo of Temira Poindexter and Delanie Crawford.  The two are second and third in The American in points per game, while also both ranking in the top 26 in the NCAA in scoring. Poindexter has 413 points on the second (15th in NCAA), while Crawford has scored 391 points (26th in NCAA).

THE AMERICAN IN THE NET

North Texas (78), Temple (99) and Rice (100) sit at the top of the NET rankings in The American through January 30. East Carolina (110), Tulsa (112) and Charlotte (113) are just behind in the rankings.
