Owls Move Up to No. 23 in the AP Top 25

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University’s men’s basketball team (13-4) has moved up to No. 23 in the Associated Press Top 25. This marks the 12th consecutive week for the Owls in the AP poll.

Now fully in American Conference play, Florida Atlantic went undefeated over the past week, taking down Tulane (11-5), 85-84, in a last second victory on the road before a comfortable 86-73 win over UAB (10-6) at the Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena on Sunday, Jan. 14.

For the Owls, it was junior guard Johnell Davis who led the way. Against Tulane, he recorded a 14 point, six rebound, eight assist statline, the first Owl to do so since the 2010-11 season. He followed this up with scoring 30 points against the Blazers, the third such game of his career. In the two games, Davis went 7-for-10 from downtown.

Contributions also came from junior center Vlad Goldin, the nation’s leader in field goal percentage at 71.9%, who averaged 18.5 points per game over the week on 16-for-22 shooting.
