- The American Athletic Conference is one of six FBS conferences that has two 11-win teams entering bowl season (Big Ten, MAC, Pac-12, SEC, Sun Belt).
- Entering the 2023 Bowl Season, American Athletic Conference teams have played 10 games against teams ranked in the current Associated Press top 25, including three of the four College Football Playoff teams and six games against top-10 teams (Nos. 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 and 9).
- The 2023 American Athletic Conference Championship Game was one of six FBS conference title games between two ranked teams. The others were from the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12 and SEC.
- SMU defeated Tulane 26-14 in the American Atheltic Conference Championship Game, giving the Mustangs their first conference title since 1984.
- Tulane is 23-4 in the last two seasons. The Green Wave trails only Georgia (27) and Michigan (26) in total wins among FBS teams in the last two seasons.
- Memphis has scored at least 20 points in 26 consecutive games, marking the longest active streak among FBS teams.
- UTSA is making its fourth consecutive appearance in Bowl Season and its fifth appearance in a bowl game, though the Roadrunners are looking for their first bowl victory in program history.
- South Florida QB Byrum Brown is one of two players nationally with at least 3,000 passing yards and 700 rushing yards in 2023, joining Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels of LSU.
- Rice WR Luke McCaffrey has at least one touchdown reception in seven consecutive games and scored a TD in 10 of the Owls’ 12 games this season.
