UF WBK: Gators Basketball Takes on Gardner-Webb Sunday Afternoon

Florida women’s basketball is in North Carolina to take on Gardner-Webb Sunday afternoon. The non-conference matchup will tip-off at 3 p.m. and can be streamed on ESPN+.

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.- Florida women’s basketball will play Gardner-Webb Sunday afternoon for the second time in program history. The contest will tip-off at 3 p.m. for a Sunday matinee at Paul Porter Arena and can be streamed on ESPN+.

SERIES RECORD:
Gardner-Webb currently holds the all-time series 1-0 against Florida with their only recorded contest dating back to Nov. 6, 2018. In the Gators sole matchup against Gardner-Webb they fell by two points 60-58. The 2018 matchup took place at home in Gainesville, making Sunday’s game the first meeting in Boiling Springs.

FLORIDA’S LAST GAME:
The Gators are coming off a difficult loss to Tulsa, falling 72-64 to the Hurricanes on the road. The contest was a back and forth battle, with Florida holding the lead for upwards of 50% of the game.

Leading the Gators in scoring was freshman Laila Reynolds with 14 points, followed by Leilani Correa with 12. Jeriah Warren led on the boards for Florida with her season high of 12 rebounds. Following closely was Ra Shaya Kyle with 11 rebounds to put her in double figures for the fifth time this season.

Gardner-Webb currently holds a 1-9 record going into Sunday’s contest and is coming off a 82-78 victory over Appalachian State. The first win of the The Runnin’ Bulldogs season was led by junior guard Ashley Hawkins, securing 28 points. Hawkins is currently the only player on Gardner-Webb averaging in double figures for scoring (16.1 ppg).
