Tampa, Fla. Dec. 11, 2023 – South Florida women’s basketball freshman guard Vittoria Blasigh has earned American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week honors for the second time this season, announced by the league office on Monday.
Blasigh put up a career-high 31 points and connected on five 3-pointers in South Florida’s 105-75 victory against Gardner-Webb (0-9) on Sunday afternoon. The freshman’s 31-point performance marked the first 30-plus point performance since Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu scored 34 against Ohio State (Dec. 20, 2022). Blasigh has collected double-digit points seven times and has scored 21 or more points in three games this season.
The Udine, Italy native is ranked 13th nationally with 31 total 3-pointers made this season, which is the second most among NCAA freshmen.

South Florida hosts no. 3 NC State on Saturday, Dec. 16 for its Holiday Celebration Game. Tipoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. and the game will stream live on ESPN+. South Florida women’s basketball recorded its 11th 20-win season during the 2022-23 campaign. The all-time winningest coach in program history, Fernandez has guided USF to 11 20-win seasons, two WNIT final four appearances, the 2009 WNIT championship, has won over 400 career games, and is the all-time wins leader in the American Athletic Conference.
In 2022-23, the Bulls had four players recognized by The American for impressive seasons, including Elena Tsineke (AAC Co-Player of the Year, All-Conference First Team), Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu (AAC Co-Player of the Year, All-Conference First Team), Sammie Puisis (AAC Newcomer of the Year, All-Conference Second Team) and Carla Brito (AAC All-Freshman Team).
