BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men’s basketball team (7-2) remains in the Associated Press Top 25 for the seventh consecutive week, as announced by the AP on Monday afternoon.
In the latest poll, the Owls are ranked No. 15, Despite playing only one game in the previous week, a 98-89 loss against No. 16 Illinois in the Jimmy V. Classic, Florida Atlantic was led by another strong performance from junior center Vlad Goldin who set a new career high with 23 points. Junior guard Johnell Davis added 19 points on 3-4 shooting from beyond the arc and nine rebounds, while senior guard Jalen Gaffney dished out a career high seven assists out of the 23 total from the team.
Florida Atlantic is coming off a 5-1 stretch in a span of 12 days against teams with a combined record of 43-14 (.754) that included winning the eight-team ESPN Events Invitational, sweeping the three-team Field of 68 Tip Off, and facing off against two fellow ranked teams: Texas A&M and Illinois.
