USF Baseball: Bulls announce 2024 schedule

The season opens on Friday, February 16 and features 34 total home games. 

TAMPA (December 7, 2023) – University of South Florida head coach Billy Mohl has unveiled the Bulls’ 2024 baseball schedule which begins on Friday, February 16. The complete slate features 34 home games to be played at USF Baseball Stadium.

South Florida will host UConn, Louisville and Indiana State on opening weekend in Tampa on February 16-18. UConn went 44-17 in 2023 en route to an NCAA Regional berth while Indiana State posted a 45-17 record a year ago, hosted and won the Terre Haute Regional, and advanced to a Super Regional. Louisville, a perennial postseason team, has reached the College World Series five times.

The Bulls will square off against eight teams that reached an NCAA Regional in 2023: Charlotte, ECU, Indiana State, Florida, Florida A&M, Maine, Tulane and UConn. USF hosts UConn on Friday, February 16Indiana State on Sunday, February 18Maine on Wednesday, March 13 and FAMU on Wednesday, March 20.

The 2024 American Athletic Conference slate will feature five new league members. USF hosts Rice on April 19-21FAU on April 26-28 and UAB on May 16-18, while the Bulls travel to Charlotte on March 28-30 and UTSA on May 10-12. USF hosts continuing AAC members Memphis on March 22-24 and Wichita State on April 5-7.

Notable non-conference games include road contests at Florida State on Tuesday, February 27, UCF on March 1-3 and Florida on Tuesday, May 7.

South Florida returns 24 players from its 2023 roster, including each of its five All-Conference selections from last season. Drew Brutcher (Lakeland), a 2023 First Team All-AAC recipient, enters his senior campaign ranked sixth all-time in program history with 34 career home runs. Bobby Boser (Wesley Chapel) was also named First Team All-AAC after his breakout sophomore season in 2023, batting .323 with 25 extra-base hits and 15 homers which tied for ninth all-time in program history. Sophomore Eric Snow (Forsyth, Ga.) was the 2023 AAC Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team honoree after leading the Bulls with a .343 batting average and a team-best 45 RBI. Junior right-handed pitcher Jack Cebert (Tampa) earned Second Team honors and Rafael Betancourt (Deltona) was named to the AAC All-Freshman Team.

Boser and Snow each played in the prestigious Cape Cod League over the summer. Boser was named a Cape Cod League All-Star while Snow batted .293 with seven extra-base hits over 39 games.

All USF home games for the 2024 season will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

The USF Baseball program played its first season in 1966 and is entering its 59th season in 2024 under head coach Billy Mohl (seventh season). The Bulls have made 14 NCAA Tournament appearances, including four since 2015, and earned their first-ever Super Regional berth in 2021. USF was ranked in the Top 25 by five different publications in the final 2021 polls, checking in as high as No. 16. The Bulls have won five conference tournament titles (3 Sun Belt, 1 Metro and 1 American) and six regular season championships (3 Sun Belt, 2 Metro and 1 C-USA). USF baseball players have been recognized with All-America honors 12 times, most recently with third baseman David Villar in 2018, and 19 have earned Freshman All-America accolades, most recently Eric Snow in 2023. Four Bulls were selected in the 2022 MLB Draft. Former 2018 first-round selection, Shane McClanahan, became the program’s first-ever MLB All-Star in 2022 and was the starting pitcher for the American League.
