IRVING, Texas – Tulane University will host the American Athletic Conference Football Championship Game for the second consecutive season after the No. 18-ranked Green Wave took a 29-16 win against UTSA Friday afternoon to finish an 8-0 season in conference games.
The American Football Championship Game will be held Saturday, Dec. 2, at 4 p.m. ET/3 p.m. CT at Yulman Stadium in New Orleans. Tulane will make its second appearance in the championship game and will look for a second consecutive conference title on the heels of last year’s 45-28 win against UCF.
The championship game will be televised live on ABC for the ninth consecutive season. Coverage will begin on ESPN+ with The American Football Championship Pregame Show at 3 p.m. ET/2 p.m. CT.
The Green Wave’s opponent in the championship game will be determined by Saturday’s results. SMU would advance to the championship game with a win against Navy Saturday afternoon.
A Navy win against SMU would send the higher-ranked of SMU and UTSA in an average of Sunday computer rankings (Anderson & Hester, Colley, Massey, Wolfe) to the championship game. SMU’s average rank entering this week was 35.5, while UTSA’s was 58.8.
Tickets for the 2023 American Athletic Conference Football Championship Game will be made available through the ticket offices of the participating institutions.
