Florida leads the fall finale by six shots and can capture its third straight tournament win for the first time since 2016.
WEST POINT, Miss. – The Florida women’s golf team used ‘Moving Day’ to take the tournament lead by six shots at The Ally on Tuesday.
In third and trailing the lead by four shots, the Gators (+2) finished round two moving into first and are set up for its third straight tournament victory this fall. Florida hasn’t won three consecutive since the spring of 2016. UF tees off tomorrow at 10:10 a.m. and will be paired with LSU (+8) and Indiana (+9).
Freshman Inès Archer led the lineup with back-to-back rounds of 71 (-1), tying her career-low. She was bogey-free and 3-under through 14 holes. She is tied for 4th with Maisie Filler and are two shots back of the solo leader at 2-under overall.
Another pair of Gators are tied through 36 holes with Jackie Lucena and Sophie Stevens in 16th. Stevens is tied for second among the competitors with nine birdies.
Competing as an individual, Marina Escobar improved by five shots from round with a 72 (E) at Old Waverly Golf Club today and is tied for 29th. A few shots behind her is Annabell Fuller in T44.
The Gators conclude the fall slate of the season at the East Lake Cup (Oct. 30-Nov. 1), which features the last four semifinalist teams for the NCAA Championships and featured on Golf Channel.
