American Athletic Conference Weekly Football Honors | October 9

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly football honors for the week-ending Oct. 7.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jermaine Brown Jr. • Sr. • RB • UAB

Brown rushed for 116 yards and four touchdowns to lead UAB to a 56-35 win against a South Florida squad that had won its first two conference games. He became the fifth NCAA FBS player to score four rushing touchdowns in a game this season and scored three TDs in the first half to stake the Blazers to a 35-14 lead at the break.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Luke Pirris • So. • DE/LB • Navy

Pirris made his first career start had a career-high nine tackles with a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in Navy’s 27-24 win against North Texas. Pirris’ sack came in the fourth quarter and resulted in an 18-yard loss and a fumble that was recovered by the Midshipmen, who scored on the next play to put the game away. Pirris led a Navy defense that registered a school-record eight sacks and limited North Texas’ prolific offense to 24 points.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Logan Lupo • Jr. • K/P • Florida Atlantic

Lupo scored eight points, making two field goals, and averaged 51.8 yards on four punts to help Florida Atlantic to a 20-17 win against Tulsa. Lupo’s second field goal of the game provided the winning margin as he hit a 27-yard attempt in a driving rainstorm early in the fourth quarter. He made his biggest play late in the game with a 72-yard punt to the Tulsa 6-yard line to help protect a three-point lead.

Completed 19 of 25 passes for 353 yards and four touchdowns in a 56-35 win against South Florida.

Larry McCammon III • Sr. • RB • Florida Atlantic

Rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries in a 20-17 win against Tulsa.

Rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries in a 27-24 win against North Texas.

E.J. Warner • So. • QB • Temple

Completed 42 of 65 passes for 472 yards and five touchdowns in a 49-34 loss to UTSA.

Frank Harris • Gr. • QB • UTSA

Completed 25 of 33 passes for 338 yards and three touchdowns and added a rushing TD in a 49-34 win at Temple.
