The Lions Feasted on Cheese Thursday!

The much-anticipated matchup between the 2-1 Lions visiting the 2-1 Packers at Lambeau Field. Needless to say, it didn’t start anywhere as expected. And immediately the Same Ol’ Lions fans took to social media in droves to call out what was a poor pass attempt by Jared Goff that led to CB Ford of the Packers jumping the route that became an FG for the Packers being in the red zone. But the defense made them settle.

The rest of the first half was a blur of watching the dismantling of the Green Bay Packers by the Detroit Lions Defense. It was as if they became a team possessed. Amassing a whopping 24-3 lead at the half with some brilliant play calling on both sides of the pigskin!

Jared Goff despite having the interception. Had a good night throwing the ball around. 19/28 67.9% passes for 210 yards 1 TD (to Amon-Ra St. Brown) and the 1 interception. The Lions Oline were the stars of the game IMO. They made whole in the Packers defense that David Montgomery had his first 100+ yard game and 3 TDs. Jahmyr Gibbs was used in a few different looks that seemed to confuse the secondary and the linebackers of the Packers defense.

On the other side of things. This was by far the worse start for Jordan Love who’s accuracy did show 23/36 63.9% for 246 yards 1 TD (to Christian Watson) and 2 INTs by making Jerry Jacobs look like Kerby Joseph vs. Aaron Rodgers last season.

The Lions Defense held the vaunted Aaron Jones and company to 27 total yards on the ground. Which means the number 1 rushing defense through week 3 needs to hold their opponent to under 10 yards to retain it.

There was a little lull for the Lions as with the lead they got a little lethargic and vanilla with the playcalling in the 3rd quarter. But in the end. The Lions won by a 14 point margin.

For a 2nd week in a row the blitz packages were actually getting to the QB amassing 5 sacks led again by 2nd year star Aidan Hutchinson with 1.5 sacks. Isaiah Buggs, Alim McNeil, Charles Harris (.5), John Comiskey filled that stat column.

But DROY candidate Brian Branch limped off the field with an apparent ankle injury. His status is yet unknown.

But overall this was a wire to wire win for the Detroit Lions to take the reigns of the NFC North. If they continue to play like this. They won’t be easy to get the reigns of this division back to their divisional foes.

Final score
DET   34
G  B   20
