Florida’s two transfers inside the top 16 are tied for the most in the nation.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A pair of Florida baseball newcomers have been ranked as top-20 impact transfers by D1Baseball in infielder Colby Shelton and catcher Brody Donay.
D1Baseball, who ranked the top-130 impact transfers in the sport, concluded its list on Tuesday<https://d1baseball.com/columns/2024-top-130-impact-transfers-the-top-10/> by unveiling the final 10 players. The top 10 included Shelton, who came in as the No. 6 transfer in college baseball after bringing his talents to the Gators from Alabama. Transferring to Florida from Virginia Tech, Donay also made the cut at No. 16 overall.

Shelton figures to make an immediate impact in Orange & Blue after a Freshman All-American campaign that saw him bat .300/.419/.729 with 25 long balls. The infielder from Lithia, Fla. led the Crimson Tide in homers, slugging and OPS (1.148) while also adding 10 doubles, 51 RBI and 49 runs scored.
Donay played in 39 games while making 33 starts for the Hokies in 2023, earning Freshman All-ACC honors in the process. The Lakeland, Fla. native slashed .260/.352/.585 with 12 home runs, four doubles, 38 RBI and 32 runs. As a catcher by trade, Donay fielded at a .976 clip and threw out seven potential base stealers in 25 attempts.
