BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University’s men’s basketball team, led by head coach Dusty May, has announced their highly anticipated non-conference schedule for the 2023-24 season.
After a historic 2022-23 campaign that saw the school’s first NCAA tournament win all the way to the Final Four while recording the most wins in the nation (35), the Owls are ready to run it back with 14 returning players as well as the entire coaching staff in a packed opening two months of the season against several formidable opponents.
SCHEDULE BREAKDOWN
Florida Atlantic will travel around the nation to compete in some of the most notable college basketball tournaments. The 14-game slate will tip off on Wednesday, Nov. 8 as part of the “Barstool Classic” against Loyola Chicago, the first of seven neutral site games.
Fans will get their first chance of the season to pack the Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena on Tuesday, Nov. 14 as the Owls face off against Eastern Michigan, followed by a matchup on Saturday, Nov. 18 against Bryant, a rematch of 2022’s Boca Raton MegaBowl.
Florida Atlantic will then experience Paradise in Disney World as part of the previously announced ESPN Events Invitational, with the first game taking place on Thanksgiving, Nov. 23 against Butler. Future opponents will be determined on how the rest of the eight team bracket plays out, with two more games scheduled for Nov. 24 and 26.
The Owls will then return home to face Liberty and Charleston as part of a round robin event sponsored by the Field of 68 from Nov. 30 – Dec. 2.
FAU will make a trip to Madison Square Garden, the site where the Owls captured the 2023 East Regional Championship, for the Jimmy V. Classic against Illinois on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
Following a home game against FIU on Wednesday, Dec. 13, Florida Atlantic heads to Springfield, Mass. to play in the previously announced Basketball Hall of Fame Classic. The Owls will face St. Bonaventure on Saturday, Dec. 16.
FAU will have one final neutral game for the calendar year when they take on Arizona in a matchup at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The first traditional road matchup of the season will occur on Saturday, Dec. 30, when the Owls face Florida Gulf Coast.
