IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly cross country awards for the week ending Sunday, September 17.
Men’s Athlete of the Week
Bradley Makuvire, Sr., Tulane
Competing in the Southern Showcase at Jacksonville State University, Bradley Makuvire finished in second place in the 8K race with a time of 23:27.70. Makuvire finished higher than top runners from teams such as No. 23 Alabama, (RV) Ole Miss, Auburn, Kentucky and Middle Tennessee State.
Women’s Athlete of the Week
Lucy Ndungu, Jr., Wichita State
Ndungu earned a third-place finish at the Greeno/Dirksen Invitational hosted by Nebraska on September 16, running a 5K personal-best of 17:19.67. Ndungu led the Shockers to a third-place finish as a team, competing against No. 27 Iowa State, Nebraska and Kansas.
