Gilligan’s 65 Highlights Day Two of OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational
Ian Gilligan shot a 5-under 65 in round two as Florida is in 9th through 36 holes.
CHICAGO – Florida men’s golf newcomer Ian Gilligan paced the lineup with a round two of 65 (-5) at the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational on Saturday.
The Gators are currently in 9th after a round two of 283 (+3) as North Carolina leads the field by six shots a 10-under.
Making his UF debut this weekend, Gilligan caught his stride on the back nine with a bogey-free 4-under outing. He was one of three golfers for Florida to make birdie on his first hole of the round, a par-5 (626 yards). The junior is tied for 8th and 2-under overall.
Bouncing back from +3 on the front was Parker Bell with a 1-under bogey-free back nine. He was one of two Gators to shoot a 72 (+2) joining Luke Poulter. Bell is tied for 37th and Poulter a stroke behind in T44th.
Sophomore Matthew Kress is right outside the top-25 in T26 as Jack Turner rounds out the lineup in T78.
Florida tees off the final round tomorrow at 9 a.m. ET.
