Florida tees off the season at Olympia Fields on Sept. 15 at the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida head men’s golf coach J.C. Deacon released the Gators 2023-24 schedule on Wednesday. The campaign consists of 11 regular-season tournaments with four in the ‘Sunshine State’ in the spring.
“Every year we strive to play against college golf’s toughest competition on some of America’s greatest golf courses,” said Deacon. “We certainly achieve that with our schedule this coming season. We are very lucky to have opportunities to compete in every region of the country. Our guys are ready to dig in and to get work!”
Starting off in a highly competitive field at Olympia Fields, UF tees off the season opener in the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational Sept. 15-17. Last season the Gators finished runner-up. Florida will then get an early test of SEC competition at the SEC Fall Preview from Sept. 25-27 in an event that features both stroke play and match play.
Three straight tournament debuts at the Williams Cup (Oct. 9-10) and Georgetown Intercollegiate (Oct. 15-16) wrap up the fall with the finale on a national stage at The East Lake Cup (Oct. 30-Nov. 1) in Atlanta. The competition features last year’s semifinal teams at the NCAA men’s and women’s Championships and is modeled after the event; stroke and match play. The outing will be aired live on Golf Channel each day as the field will also consist of Florida State, Georgia Tech and North Carolina.
A stretch of three consecutive competitions in the ‘Sunshine State’ begin the spring season with the opener at the Pablo Creek Collegiate Cup (Jan. 22) at Pablo Creek followed by a week later at the Sea Best Invitational (Jan. 29-30) at TPC Sawgrass. The Gators look to win the event for the third straight year and fifth under Deacon.
The 47th annual Gators Invitational is set for Feb. 17-18 at Mark Bostick Golf Course. Florida has won the event 29 times in program history and the last four straight. The regular season concludes with trips to the Southern Highlands Collegiate (Feb. 25-27), Schenkel Invitational (March 15-17) and the Calusa Cup (March 31-April 2).
Florida will defend its conference title at the SEC Championship (April 23-28) at Sea Island in St. Simons, Ga. NCAA Regionals are set for May 13-15 with the six host schools of LSU, North Carolina, Purdue, San Diego, Stanford and Texas.
The NCAA Championships have a new venue in the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. Action is set from May 24-29 as Florida looks to win back-to-back national championships for the first-time in program history and 13th school to accomplish the mark with the last being Alabama in 2013-14.
