Moore will represent Team USA at the World Athletics Championships for the second straight year.
EUGENE, Ore. – Jasmine Moore, the 2023 NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Champion in the Triple Jump, continued her spectacular season on Thursday evening, qualifying to the World Athletics Championships with a third-place finish in the Triple Jump at the USATF Outdoor Championships.
A finalist for The Bowerman, Moore qualified and grabbed bronze with a mark of 14.19m/46’6.75″. Last year, she was the first American woman in history to qualify to the same World Championships in both the Long Jump and Triple Jump. Moore will have another opportunity to do so this year, as she competes in the Long Jump on Sunday night.
World leader in the heptathlon, defending USATF Outdoor Champion and Gator Great, Anna Hall, made a statement on day one leading the competition with 4009 points through the first four events. She led off the competition with the 100m hurdles, placing second with a time of 13.08. In the second heptathlon event, Hall cleared 1.87m/6’1.5″ in the high jump, finishing first. In the shot put, Hall surpassed 14 meters for the first time in her career, registering a personal best 14.03m/46’0.5″, placing third in her third event. Fourth up was the 200m, where she finished first (23.54).
The Gators advanced five other athletes into the ensuing qualifying round of their respective events.
Pjai Austin paced the second heat in the 100 meters, qualifying for the semifinals with a 10.17, and will race tomorrow night at 8:24 p.m. ET.
Looking to defend her 2022 USATF Outdoor Championship in the 400 meters, Talitha Diggs came out on top in the third heat at 51.31 to qualify for tomorrow night’s semifinal at 8:39 p.m. ET. Also, in the 400 meters field was Gator Great Taylor Manson, who clocked a 52.79.
In the men’s 400 meters, Jacory Patterson and Ryan Willie snatched up two of the 16 spots in the 8:55 p.m. ET semifinal tomorrow. Patterson earned automatic qualification by finishing third in heat four, running 45.98. Willie was first across the line at 45.48 in heat one.
Gator Great Cory McGee qualified for Saturday night’s finals of the 1500 meters after placing second from the opening heat in 4:09.62.
Sam Austin finished his season in the first round of the 800 meters, where he ran a 1:50.29 in his USA Outdoors debut.
