CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami defensive back Tyrique Stevenson was selected with the 56th overall pick by the Chicago Bears Friday night in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Stevenson became the highest-drafted Miami defensive back since Artie Burns went to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
In his final year at Miami, Stevenson earned Third-Team All-ACC recognition. The Miami native made 10 starts and saw action in 11 games, finishing with 23 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions and six pass breakups.
Over the course of his two seasons at The U, Stevenson made 20 starts and totaled 66 tackles, three interceptions and 10 PBUs.
The selection of Stevenson in the second round extended Miami’s streak to 49 straight years with at least one draft pick, dating back to 1975, marking the fourth-longest active streak of any FBS program nationwide.
