USF Baseball: Four homers carry Bulls in 13-2 win over Bethune-Cookman

Bobby Boser recorded his second two-homer game of the season on Tuesday night.

TAMPA (April 11, 2023) – Three different Bulls combined for four home runs on Tuesday night as the University of South Florida (15-19) extended its winning streak to three straight with a 13-2 triumph over Bethune-Cookman University (17-14) at USF Baseball Stadium.

Bobby Boser (Wesley Chapel) tallied his second two-homer game of the season, while Daniel Cantu (Jacksonville) and Nelson Rivera (Toa Alto, Puerto Rico) also left the ballpark. Cantu has matched his career high with eight home runs and Rivera circled the bases for the first time this season.

Cantu went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, recording his second four-hit game of the year. Drew Brutcher went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and matched his season high with three RBI.

South Florida plated at least one run in every inning but the fourth frame. The Bulls led 9-0 after the fifth inning before the Wildcats scored both their runs in the top of the sixth.

Lawson Gailey (Lavonia, Ga.) picked up his second win of the season on the mound with four shutout innings. Austin Grause (Tampa), Tanner Mink (Palm Harbor), Chandler Dorsey (Lakeland) and Caleb Pundsack (Groveland) each made scoreless relief appearances.
