UF WGOLF | Filler Set for Augusta National Women’s Amateur Debut

Maisie Filler tees off the prestigious event on Wednesday at 9:44 a.m.

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Florida women’s golfer Maisie Filler is set to make her debut at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur (ANWA) on Wednesday.

The junior will tee off round one on Wednesday at 9:44 a.m. and round two Thursday at 8:23 a.m. Golf Channel will broadcast live the first two rounds with coverage from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Final round coverage is aired live on NBC from noon – 3 p.m. on Saturday.

The prestigious event has a Gator golf connection as UF alum and current Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley announced the commencement of the ANWA in 2019. Creating the only event played by women on the prestigious course and home of The Masters. The event features the top-72 amateurs and was established to inspire greater interest and participation in the women’s game by creating a new, exciting and rewarding pathway for these players to fulfill their dreams.

Filler will become the fifth Gator to compete in the event joining current teammate Annabell Fuller, a three-time participant. Florida has a representative every year of the tournament, including the inaugural event with three.

Beginning the week prior to the 87th Masters Tournament, the international field will compete across 54 holes of stroke play, with a cut to 30 players taking place after 36 holes. The first two rounds will take place on the Island and Bluff nines at Champions Retreat Golf Club then the entire field will then play Augusta National for an official practice round on Friday. The final round will take place at Augusta National on Saturday and will feature the competitors who made the cut.

This season Filler has competed in every tournament and featured in No. 1 spot in the lineup three times. The junior has five top-25 and three top-10 finishes this season with two runner-up outings and a recent T3 finish in the regular season finale.

A breakout sophomore season last year, she was named a Golfweek All-American and earned her second All-SEC Second Team selection. She led the team in multiple categories; stroke average (72.3), under-par rounds (14) and tournaments (6), rounds in the 60s (8), top-10 (4) and top-25 (8) finishes and low scores for 18 (65), 36 (134) and 54-holes (203).

The Palm Beach Gardens native also tied for second all-time in program history for a tournament score of 203 (-13) at The Ally and was one stroke away from tying the record. Filler sent Florida to the match play finals at the 2022 SEC Championship for the first time in program history behind her match-clinching point victory on 17.

Last summer, Filler played in her second LPGA event at the ShopRite LPGA Classic and made the cut with two 1-under rounds.
