The 43rd Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) Mitty at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta Celebrates Corvette

– Chevrolet Corvette Featured Marque of 43rd HSR Mitty at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta
BRASELTON, Georgia (September 25, 2019) – Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) officials have announced that the 43rd HSR Mitty at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta will be held April 23 – 26, 2020, and that the legendary Chevrolet Corvette will be the Featured Marque of the blockbuster vintage and historic race.
The HSR Mitty at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta is in its fifth decade as a must-do vintage and historic auto racing event for race fans and competitors alike. The family-friendly event is expected to draw an entry of more than 300 HSR race cars and competitors and will also feature car corrals, parade laps, tent and RV camping and much more.

Competing on-track for more than 60 years, Corvettes were first raced in competition just a few years after “America’s Sports Car” was introduced in 1953. The first official race was a five-car effort in 1956 in the 12 Hours of Sebring, and a decade later a young team owner named Roger Penske scored the first ever Team Penske victory at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1966 with a GT-class Corvette Stingray.

The racing and winning has been non-stop ever since, and Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta is a particularly memorable and successful venue for Corvette. Team Corvette has scored GT class victories eight times in the 20-year history of Petit Le Mans.
Corvette Daytona Prototypes – many examples of which now compete in HSR – were also driven to victory at Petit Le Mans in 2014 and 2015.

The 43rd HSR Mitty on-track schedule will once again be packed with a full slate of feature races, including B.R.M. Chronographes Enduro Challenges, two SascoSports International/American Challenge sprints and the production-based Corvette Feature Race on Saturday, April 25.

Stock Cars also return to the HSR Mitty spotlight next year as the stars of the HSR Mitty Feature Race on Sunday, April 26.

In addition to the strong feature race lineup, the 43rd HSR Mitty schedule will be anchored by WeatherTech Sprint races for all Run Groups in the always popular Saturday/Sunday doubleheader format.
Tickets for the 43rd HSR Mitty at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta will be available in mid-December.

The remainder of the 2020 HSR Race Schedule will be released at a later date.

Next up on HSR’s 2019 calendar of events is this weekend’s HSR Fall Historics at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, September 26 – 29.
