Castleton has been named USA Today SEC Defensive Player of the Year
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida’s Colin Castleton has been named USA Today’s Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Year and first-team All-SEC, while the Associated Press named him second-team All-SEC.
The honors add to Castleton’s postseason haul following his first-team All-SEC and SEC All-Defensive Team recognition from the coaches<https://floridagators.com/news/2023/3/6/mens-basketball-castleton-kugel-earn-sec-honors.aspx> on Monday.
Castleton led the Gators in scoring (16.0) and rebounding (7.7) while his 3.0 blocked shots per game rank fourth in the nation and are a Florida single-season record. Castleton has been sidelined with a broken hand since Feb. 15.
The Gators open SEC Tournament action on Thursday at 1 p.m. EST vs. Mississippi State in Nashville.
