Yuxin Lin shot his second round under par and is T1 at 10-under overall at the Southern Highlands Collegiate.
LAS VEGAS – Yuxin Lin of the Florida men’s golf team remained tied for the individual lead after day two of the Southern Highlands Collegiate on Monday.
Lin shot his second straight round under par with a bogey-free 70 (-2). It marked his sixth straight low round and through 36 holes he only has one bogey. The senior remains tied with UNC’s Austin Greaser as the individual champion will receive an exemption into the Shriners Children’s Open, which will take place Oct. 12-15, 2023, at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas.
The Gators shot an even 288 in round two and are in 6th at 5-under overall, a stroke back from Oklahoma and five shots from 4th place Illinois. North Carolina has a four-stroke advantage and leads at 20-under.
Jumping 29 spots to T16 on day two was Ricky Castillo. He shot a 3-under 69 that featured a clean card on the back nine. The senior is 2-under overall and in the last 90 holes he only has seven total bogeys.
The third Gator to go under par today was Quentin Debove, who is competing as in individual. After a double bogey then a bogey to start, he made four birdies over his next 16 holes to record a 71 (-1) and moved into the top-25. Two shots back tied for 38th is Giovanni Manzoni.
John DuBois improved seven shots from round one with a 72 (+2) as he is tied for 79th with Fred Biondi.
Florida wraps up the tournament tomorrow then heads to the NIT (March 17-18) hosted by Arizona before wrapping up the regular season at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational (April 1-2).
