BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University softball hosted the program’s first Joan Joyce Classic, in honor of the program’s inaugural head coach and legendary athlete Joan Joyce, over the weekend featuring Boston College, North Carolina, Villanova and Wisconsin.
In true Joyce fashion, the Owls captured a pitcher’s duel tossed by sophomore Gabby Sacco on Sunday morning. Sacco allowed four hits and no North Carolina runs to pick up the 2-0 victory. It was her third win of the tournament and fourth for the Owls over the entire weekend.

- Becca Jones, Sara Berthiaume, Olivia Peterson and Caryssa Orland were the quartet credited with the Owls’ hits
- Jones and Orland drove in the only runs necessary, while both Orland and Peterson had doubles
