BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women’s basketball team plays its final true road regular season game on Thursday night when the Blazers visit Rice. Tipoff is at 7 p.m.
UAB LATELY
UAB (12-14, 4-13 C-USA) ended its three game winning streak with a 67-64 victory over UTSA on Feb. 18. The Blazers are 3-8 on the road this season.
RICE LATELY
Rice (18-7, 9-7 C-USA) has won two of its last three games including an 82-64 win at WKU on Feb. 18. The Owls are 11-2 at Tudor Fieldhouse this season.
UAB AND RICE HISTORY
The teams first met in 2006 and have met every year with the exception of 2021 due to COVID-19. Rice leads all-time series 11-10. The Blazers have won both matchups in the C-USA Championship (2012, 2018).
LAST TIME AGAINST RICE
Rice overcame a 12-point 3rd quarter deficit in its 67-57 victory over UAB on Jan. 28. Margaret Whitley led the Blazers with 14 points. Maria Roters and Desiree Ware each scored 10 points and Denim DeShields led all players with nine assists.

UAB TO THE AAC
American Athletic Conference officials announced that Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, UTSA, Rice and Texas San Antonio will join UAB as new members in the AAC and compete against current AAC members East Carolina, Memphis, Navy, USF, SMU, Temple, Tulane, Tulsa and Wichita State. The move will be official on July 1, 2023.
