GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Her third 10.0 of 2023 helped Florida’s Trinity Thomas claim her second Southeastern Conference Specialist Gymnast of the Week of the season.
Thomas opened the season claiming the first Specialist of the Week honor. This is Thomas’ sixth SEC Specialist of Week honor of her career.
Trinity Thomas – SEC Specialist of the Week:
* Won at least a share of each event competed in win versus Georgia – vault (10.0), bars (9.975) and floor (9.925)
* Opened meet with 10.0 vault that landed on ESPN SportsCenter Top 10<https://twitter.com/GatorsGym/status/1619226615472340995?s=20&t=R2DWfQQzskpgK3jkEwTckA>. Now in sole possession of No. 4 among nation’s career 10.0 leaders with her 23rd 10.0.
* Fourth career 10.0 on vault. Thomas is nation’s only gymnast ever with at least four 10.0s on each apparatus. No other gymnast has more than two career Gym Slams.
* Shared two win with Gator teammates: uneven bars (Leanne Wong – 9.975) and floor exercise (Victoria Nguyen – 9.925).
* Leads Florida in 2023 with 12 event titles. Extends UF’s event titles record to 125.
* Nation’s only gymnast with 10.0s in three different events. Three 10.0s leads the nation in 2023.
* In Jan. 23 Road to National ranking, No. 1 all-around (39.688), No. 2 vault (9.938), No. T1 bars (9.956 Avg), No. T17 beam (9.90 avg), No. 1 floor (9.958 avg).
