BOCA RATON, Fla. – Tom Herman, Florida Atlantic University’s Hagerty Family head football coach, has used the first 30 days on the job to assemble the most experienced and comprehensive staff since the program’s inception in 2001.
“The Herman Staff” will begin working with the Owls this spring, drawing upon coaching experience from the NFL, USFL, FBS (including Power Five), FCS, Division II, JUCO, and high school levels. The staff has coaching experience from the following conferences: ACC, American, Big Ten, Big 12, C-USA, MAC, Mountain West, PAC-12, OVC, SEC, Sun Belt and as an Independent. Four staff members, including Herman, have previously served as collegiate head coaches.

In the last 30 days (hired December 8), Herman led the program through its largest recruit weekend to date, solidified the December signing class of 16 players, met one-on-one with current players, and built the program’s most experienced staff, all during a holiday break.
FAU players returned to camps this week, joined by a handful of mid-year enrollees, and were greeted by a staff ready and committed to guiding the Owls through the transition into the American Conference and for the program’s 23rd season.
