Detroit Lions vs. New York Jets

By Jeremy T. Ballreich

These two teams have met 14 times in their storied history with an even split. 7-7 results. Yet they are kind of evenly matched up this week as well  QB1 Mike White is not cleared because of an injury to his ribs, so they’ll be starting Zach Wilson, who was benched for his immaturity and lack of results. Advantage, Detroit’s Defense.

The Detroit Lions come in as one of the hottest teams in the NFL. Winning 5 of their last 6 match ups. As the Jets are starting to Flounder a bit at 3-3 in their last 6 games.

Game time weather conditions will be cold and a slight wind gusting up to 10 miles per hour. So the Lions should depend upon a heavy dose of the rushing attack. I say somewhere around 30 rushing attempts and 25 passing. Because in the cold with a wind the passing game may not be as effective. Especially the disparity between Goff as a QB at home, versus Goff on the road. Goff at home has a league leading 20 TDs versus only 2 on the road. Granted when the Lions were on the road most of the season. They were dealing with a bunch of injuries to offensive as well as defensive starters.

On the Jets Defense, Goff has to be aware where Armand ‘Sauce’ Gardener, and DJ Reed. Both of these corners have an equal 7 pass break ups and Interceptions combined. So attacking in the middle of the field may be the best form of attack while passing. Because their Nickel Conerback is suspect and gives up yardage.

Jets defense is 3rd against the pass and 13th against the run.

If all goes according to the gameplan.
Lions  34
Jets    24

If it falls apart
Lions 20
Jets   24
