AFC Players of the Week – Week 14

JAGUARS QB TREVOR LAWRENCE, PATRIOTS LB JOSH UCHE &
RAVENS DE CALAIS CAMPBELL NAMED AFC PLAYERS OF WEEK 14

Quarterback TREVOR LAWRENCE of the Jacksonville Jaguars, linebacker JOSH UCHE of the New England Patriots and defensive end CALAIS CAMPBELL of the Baltimore Ravens are the AFC Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for games played in Week 14 (December 8, 11-12).

OFFENSE: QB TREVOR LAWRENCE, JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS

  • Lawrence completed 30 of 42 pass attempts (71.4 percent) for a career-high 368 yards and four touchdowns (three passing, one rushing) with no interceptions for a 121.9 passer rating in Jacksonville’s 36-22 victory over Tennessee. His 368 passing yards and 121.9 rating both led the AFC in Week 14.
  • Lawrence, who was 23 years and 66 days old on Sunday, became the youngest player in NFL history with at least 350 passing yards, three touchdown passes and one rushing touchdown in a game.
  • This is the second-career Offensive Player of the Week award for Lawrence, also earning the honor in Week 3 of this season. He joins Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes as players to win multiple Offensive Player of the Week awards in 2022 and is the first Jacksonville player ever to win two in one season.

DEFENSE: LB JOSH UCHE, NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

  • Uche recorded five tackles and three sacks in the Patriots’ 27-13 win over the Cardinals on Monday Night Football. He was the only player in the AFC with three sacks in Week 14 and is the only player in the league with multiple three-sack games this season.
  • Uche has 10 sacks since Week 8, the most in the NFL over that span.
  • This is the first Defensive Player of the Week for Uche and he joins teammate Matthew Judon (Week 5) as Patriots to win the award this season.
  • He is the first former Michigan linebacker to earn the honor since Devin Bush (Week 6, 2019).

SPECIAL TEAMS: DE CALAIS CAMPBELL, BALTIMORE RAVENS

  • With under 12 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Campbell blocked Pittsburgh’s 40-yard field goal attempt to keep the Ravens’ lead at six points. Baltimore would go on to score a field goal on the following drive and eventually hold on to a 16-14 win over the Steelers. He was the only player in the league to block a field goal attempt in Week 14.
  • This is the sixth-career Player of the Week award for Campbell and second on Special Teams (Week 2, 2009, with Arizona).
  • He is the third former Miami Hurricane to win a Special Teams Player of the Week this season, joining Detroit kicker Michael Badgley (Week 13) and Green Bay kicker Pat O’Donnell in Week 3.
