FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. – Madison Frederick‘s late-game heroics helped the Sharks complete the comeback in a back-and-forth matchup with Purdue Northwest. Keeping Nova Southeastern’s undefeated season alive and bringing their overall record to 6-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half- Purdue Northwest got out to a hot start, scoring the first eight points of the game, Frederick stopped the Pride’s run, putting the Sharks on the board with a layup. At the midway point of the quarter, Sarei McGill got a steal and converted it into two points to bring the Sharks within five points of Purdue Northwest. The Pride held on to the lead heading into the second quarter. A’lexus Bryant got it started for the Sharks, scoring a quick layup to start the quarter, thanks to a beautiful find by India Shepherd. As the quarter progressed, Purdue Northwest extended their lead to 10 points, but Shepherd knocked down a three-pointer to cut into the Pride’s lead. Bryant scored the Shark’s last five points of the quarter, bringing Purdue Northwest’s lead to 43-35 heading into the half.
Second Half- The third quarter was a back-and-forth battle between both teams. The Pride jumped out to a 10-point lead in the closing minutes of the quarter, but Frederick and Mackenzie Steele kept the Sharks in the game with their stellar play. Frederick came down and scored a tough layup. After a stop in the ensuing possession by NSU, Steele knocked down a three on the other end and came right back on defense, creating a steal that led to free throws for Frederick. Hailey Conley got it going in the final quarter, scoring the first five points for the Sharks. After several lead changes throughout the quarter, Frederick sealed the game for the Sharks. The graduate student scored a driving layup to tie the game at 70 a piece. Purdue Northwest came down and scored a jumper to go up two, but Frederick would not be denied. In the following possession, with just under 30 seconds left in the game, she knocked down a three-pointer to give NSU the lead. The Sharks defense held up on the other end, ultimately sealing the victory. Nova Southeastern takes down Purdue Northwest 74-72 in tonight’s matchup.
