BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University doubles duo of Nicolas Acevedo and Filip Krolo captured the 2022 ITA Southeast Regional Tournament, hosted by Florida State, and as finalists the duo have earned the opportunity to play at the 2022 Fall National Tournament.
The duo, who defeated two opponents from the University of Florida, a doubles team from host Florida State and a Miami duo, began playing together in September and have used the time since to build a chemistry that ultimately saw Acevedo/Krolo defeat a Georgia team that entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed and who is ranked No. 16 nationally, to capture the three-set finale.
Acevedo joined the Owls this fall as a Wichita State transfer. He teamed with Krolo, who has played more than 50 doubles matches as an Owls during his three-year career.
