(On the weather during yesterday’s game) “It got significantly worse as the game wore on, it was kind of
easy light rain and wind. As it progressed it got heavier rain and heavier wind. Then it sort of led up
towards the end again. Wind was blowing into our faces on the sidelines, it was a crosswind on the field.
It wasn’t easy.”
(On QB Trevor Lawrence’s struggle with fumbles) “We just got to make sure there’s two hands on the
ball, number one. I know one thing that some guys have done in the past and we’ve had those
conversations. They use those wet gloves, those passing-type gloves. It’s an individual preference too,
it’s nothing that I would force him to wear. Something to have that conversation at least, if we know
we’re going to be in some bad weather or inclement weather like that, too. We just got to focus on two
hands on the ball and just make sure we do everything in our power to keep it in our hands.”
(On if gloves were available on sideline for QB Trevor Lawrence) “For him, I don’t know that.”
(On WR Jamal Agnew’s performance) “He’s exactly the type of player that we expected. Not just a punt
returner and specialist that way, but he’s smart, tough, a very good athlete, good quickness, catches the
ball well as a receiver, and did some nice things in the game.”
(On the offensive process during the game with QB Trevor Lawrence) “Well, you would hope that if we
were a little more efficient running the football, just help him get the offense going a little bit as we
struggled to move the ball in the middle part of the game. That helps the quarterback kind of settle in,
getting him out of the pocket a couple of times by design was good for him. Things like that, that we can
do as coaches and play callers, to help a guy like Trevor in those situations to where he’s not constantly
in the pocket. When you got good pass rush, it kind of closes the pocket. That’s where some of those
hands get in and the arms get in. That’s where sometimes the ball gets a little loose and gets knocked
out of your hands.”
(On working with a young quarterback during end of game situations) “Just got to keep doing it. Keep
putting him in those situations. Keep putting the team in those situations, and we’ll get better. We’ll just
learn from them. Honestly, keep working on them, keep talking about them, and the day will come
when we learn how to do that and how to overcome that.”
(On thoughts of good quarterbacks in end-of-game situations) “The good ones, obviously, and I feel
Trevor (QB Trevor Lawrence) is in that group as we go, they want the ball in their hands. When you look
around at Brady (Buccaneers QB Tom Brady), Mahomes (Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes), Aaron Rodgers
(Packers QB Aaron Rodgers), those guys. They want the ball in their hands. Josh Allen (Bills QB Josh
Allen) they want the ball in their hands at the end of the game, to go win the game. With a young
quarterback, we have to have more opportunity to do that. We’ve had a couple this year, but we want
to make sure that when we do have the football, at the end, that we stay aggressive and maintain that
mentality. Especially at the quarterback position and everybody rides his coattail down the field to score
and win the game.”
(On possession in third quarter, if the ball should’ve been ran more) “When we started out, we had
Trevor (QB Trevor Lawrence) on the run early in the first or second play of the half. He was on the run,
had a chance to hit Dan Arnold (TE Dan Arnold) or hit Christian (WR Christian Kirk), and didn’t. He ended
up taking a sack in that situation. I believe that was on first down, because then it was second and
eleven after that. Those are all ways of extending the run, they were on first down and put five linemen
on the line of scrimmage, making it a little harder to run the football. They were blitzing the safety,
making it a little bit harder to run the football. So, we felt like our best opportunity was to get him out of
the pocket, utilize a little play-action-pass, and try to get the ball moving that way.”
(On a learning opportunity of being in a close game despite turnovers) “Yes. Obviously, it is what it is, we
lost the football game. When you look at it, there’s plays we made in the end that our guys will learn to
make as we go in time, they’ll learn to do that. They’re teachable moments, but at the same time, you
start running out of time. Your season is moving along and moving fast and we’re into Week Five. We
keep saying there’s a lot of ball ahead of us and all that, but if we don’t fix it, you’re going to look up and
say, ‘I wish I could.’ Or that, ‘Shoulda, woulda, coulda’ deal. But it’s very teachable moments for us as an
offense, for a team, even defensively. To make the plays that come to you, don’t go chasing plays. When
they come, make them and we’ll be better off for it.”
(On DE Folorunso Fatukasi’s injury in the last game) “Quad. Yeah, it was his quad. His calf was fine, it was
his quad in this game, and he’s day-to-day right now.”
(On an even-keeled trait being his personality or by design) “I think it’s both. It is my personality, but the
guys know when I get upset. They see it, I’m not going to show it publicly. I don’t think it does anything
good that way, but at the same time, if I’m the one that’s all over the place emotionally, there’s no
calmness amongst the team. I feel like if I’m calm, they’re calm. If I’m erratic, they could be erratic. It’s a
little bit of both. It’s part of my personality, but at the same time, I just want to make sure that I don’t
ever want to let the opponent know that they’ve gotten under your skin, too. Just stay the course.”
(On if last game was a setback or a blip for QB Trevor Lawrence) “Let’s hope it was a blip. I don’t think it
was a setback, I think it was just a blip. I just think, you hate to say it, but maybe it’s one of those games
during the season where nothing really goes right. It happens. I’ll never make excuses, we have to do a
better job of hanging onto the football, he knows that. That’s the prized possession out there. If we
make the plays that were left on the field, it might be a different outcome today.”
(On the team’s feelings following the loss) “Yeah. They’re disappointed, they’re mad, they’re upset, they
know. I think they’re starting to believe just how special they are, how good they can be, sometimes we
just have to get out of our own way and just go play.”
(On the importance of channeling positive feelings) “Yeah, it’s easy to channel. It’s waving the flags, just
like, ‘Here I am, and let’s just go.’”
(On the potential of Philadelphia Eagles playing in the postseason) “It’s a great football team. The Eagles,
I think in that division they’re in, yeah. In the NFC, I think they’ll be one of those teams in the end.
They’re playing really aggressive on defense and offensively they’re efficient. Obviously, they ran the
ball well yesterday, their quarterback is playing at a high level. They got skill on the perimeter; they got
really good tight ends. I think overall, at the end of the day, that’s a playoff team that we still had
chances of beating and unfortunately, we didn’t.”
(On WR Zay Jones’ injury progress and if he’ll be good to go on Sunday) “I think so. He was looking good
today. Give him a couple more days of rest and see where he’s at on Wednesday, but I think he’ll be
ready to go.”
(On preparation for the upcoming AFC South game this weekend) “Well you have to, it’s definitely one
of the goals we’ve talked about. When you look at Houston too, their win-loss record may not be what
they think it should be or where it should be, but this is a good football team. They’re really aggressive
defensively and they’re young, they fly around. They got some top draft picks over there; they got some
quality free agents. It’s a group that you better come ready to play. Offensively they might be young in
some spots, quarterback being one of them, and being able to handle that. We just have to have a great
week of preparation, keep focusing on us, and fix the mistakes from this past week to go play.”
JAGUARS WR JAMAL AGNEW

(On if yesterday’s game was just a glimpse of what he can bring to the offense) “I’m just, next man up
mentality. Unfortunately, Zay (WR Zay Jones) couldn’t play, but that just means more opportunities for
guys like myself or Tim (WR Tim Jones) or even KP (WR Kendric Pryor) had a chance to be activated.
When somebody like that goes down, it shouldn’t be any drop off. We’ve got to go in there, coaching
staff expects us to continue to make plays just like Zay does or Christian (WR Christian Kirk) or Marv (WR
Marvin Jones Jr.). That’s just the mentality we have.
(On if he was still angry this morning from yesterday’s game) “Yeah, obviously, but we have a 24-hour
rule, so we watched the film, and we’re going to completely flush it. We’re focused on Houston right
now. We’ve got a big division game at home. I feel like we haven’t been at home in like a month. We
have to learn from the mistakes that we made, and that’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to
bounce back.”
(On the confidence level on the team late in the game when they had a chance to tie it up) “We had no
doubt that we could go down there and move the ball. We’ve been doing it all season. We’ve been
really good in these two-minute situations so far this year. Unfortunately, we turned the ball over. That
was kind of the story of the game. Turn the ball over, not executing on third down, fourth down, but
those are things we’ve been doing well all year, so we just have to get back to what we were doing. We
can’t let the elements affect anything. Just get back to what we do, play Jaguar football, and continue to
go win games.”
(On if his first touchdown play is something they have done more lately in practice) “We actually just put
that in last week, but that’s a credit to the coaching staff, knowing what the Eagles would have run in
that situation, the way we drew it up, they said, ‘This is what they’re going to do,’ and they did exactly
that. They kind of got confused and lost, and it worked to my benefit, our benefit. I got a nice little
touchdown.”
(On if he couldn’t believe he was that wide open) “No, because that’s what the coaching staff said was
going to happen. They said they’re not going to communicate it properly. If you watch the film, they
were trying to tell the guy on the other side, ‘If he goes in motion, you’ve got to go take him,’ and it
happened just like they said, so it’s a credit to the coaching staff.”
(On the play where QB Trevor Lawrence overthrew to him) “He got pressured. He probably threw it a
little sooner than he wanted to. I don’t know who it was, but they’ve got a little bit of pressure on him,
but we had a chance there to go up 21 nothing right there. That would’ve been huge, but we just have
to get back to executing.”
(On a screen play with OL Cam Robinson) “That play is designed to, offensive line, tackle and guard come
out and lead block. When I caught it, I saw nothing but green jerseys, so I was like, ‘I’m going to let Cam
get out here first, then I’m going to start running, and I saw Cam pancake him, so I was like, ‘Okay, I’m
just going to follow him. So I just kept going. Credit to Cam. Cam is one of the most athletic tackles in the
game right now. We do a lot of things to get him in space, lead block and stuff like that, so it’s been fun
to watch him. He’s been doing that all year, he did that to forty-four Colts, too, completely pancaked
him.”
(On if he feels like he will get more time in the rotation, even if everybody is healthy) “Hopefully, I’d
imagine, but I’m just playing whatever role I am. Obviously I’m going to be out there returning kicks
trying to make plays. I always have that mentality that if they call my number, I’m going to go out there
and make plays. I’ve always said that’s how I see myself, just as a playmaker, so whenever they call my
number, I’m going to go out there and execute.”
(On if QB Trevor Lawrence was normal self after yesterday’s game) “He’s the same, whether he’s having
his best game or whether he feels like he’s not playing like he’s supposed to be, and that’s why we have
guys like Marv (WR Marvin Jones Jr.) and Christian (WR Christian Kirk) and Zay (WR Zay Jones), especially
Zay, to keep the energy high, especially with Trevor. He’s such a young quarterback. He’s got a lot on his
plate, and we’re riding with him whether he’s throwing for 500 yards or whether he’s playing in a sloppy
weather game like yesterday. We’re going to ride with Trevor because he’s the leader of this team,
whether he really realizes it or not, he’s so young, but we’re riding with 16 ‘til the wheels fall off.”
(On how much it builds confidence between the players and coaching staff when they say something will
go a certain way, then it really does) “It’s been happening all year, especially after the Washington game
where we weren’t executing like we felt we should have. Coaches really started scheming things up, and
you saw that in the Colts game and the Charger game. A lot of the big plays we had and a lot of the
explosive plays we had were looks that we saw on film, and the coaching staff were like, ‘When we run
this play, we’re going to get this look,” and it would happen. That definitely builds the trust, knowing
that they’re going to put us in positions to make plays and to be successful. It’s a long season. We’re two
and two in this first quarter of the season. We’re going to put that behind us and focus on this next
quarter of the season.”
(On both losses so far being by one score) “Obviously, we think about that all the time, but you can’t go
back in the past and change things, but we feel like we left a lot on the field yesterday. We just watched
the film, even a couple of those turnovers we feel like we could’ve made some plays off of them. We’re
putting that behind us. We’ve got that 24-hour rule. We’re a really good team, especially when we’re
out there executing like we’re supposed to be, offense, defense, special teams, we’re going to be one of
the best teams in this league. We’ve got to do the little things to get to that level to talk like that.”
(On how important the upcoming game against the Texans is both as a conference and bounce back
game) “Obviously we want to bounce back, but we always look at it as the next game is the most
important. We want to go 1-0 this week. Fortunately it’s a division opponent. We’re at the top of the
AFC South right now. We’re looking to stay there, but we’ve got to go handle a Houston team that
obviously doesn’t have any wins right now, but they’re still a really good team if you watch them on film.
They’ve done a lot of really good things, so it’s no cake walk coming in here right now. Houston’s a really
good team coming in here, and we’ve got a little challenge.”

(On team performance in the last game) “I mean, this is the most rushing yards we gave up all year.
Some of it was due to the quarterback, most of it was due to the running backs. I would say we could’ve
executed a little bit better in the front seven, we could’ve done better.”
(On thoughts of his first month in the league and winning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month) “Yeah, it’s
a tremendous honor. I’m glad my play is getting recognized, but at the same time, for me, it’s just about
winning and doing what I can to help my team. Everything, all those accolades and stuff, that comes
with just doing your job and taking pride in your job while doing it to the best of your ability. So that’s all
I’m really focused on.”
(On his position during the first interception of last game) “I was somewhere right in front of him, and I
was just looking to get a block. We have interception drills all the time, so that translated directly from
practice to the game. I just wanted to pick somebody up and help get some extra yardage.”
(On discussion of getting an interception to take the ball the other way) “Yeah, I know we had a couple
opportunities to get into the endzone that we talked about as a defense. To capitalize on that
opportunity is great.”
(On the Philadelphia Eagles’ performance) “Yeah, with the weather like that, it was huge. Like you said,
they just stuck to running the ball, they were effective with that pretty much all year. They stuck to what
they were doing, and I think we kind of got away from what we’re best at, which is really hanging our
hat on stopping the run and just playing our style of football.”
(On the talent of Philadelphia Eagles) “Yeah. Number one team in the NFL going in and still will remain
that as the only unbeaten team. They’re a very good team. We’re not on the moral victories, we’re just
focused on getting better and improving.”
(On if it’s difficult to tackle with Philadelphia’s style of play) “Yeah, I would say the biggest thing was the
fact that Jalen (Eagles QB Jalen Hurts) was such a threat running the ball, that now we had to account
for him. There was an extra guy to account for him pretty much for every play and every defensive snap.
That was kind of the biggest adjustment.”
(On thoughts of being better prepared based on the challenge of the last game) “Yeah. I’d say
defensively and as a whole, coaching staff, players, we’ll all understand how to improve basically from
this game. There were certain things we did in this game that I feel like in some ways, we made it harder
than it needed to be. Really just finding a way to clean it out.”
(On upcoming opponent with Texans RB Dameon Pierce) “Yeah, he’s strong, jittery. I was just watching a
little bit, and he’s going to be a tough back. Our coach mentioned it in our meeting. We got to just rally,
everybody’s got to get to the ball.”
(On playing against Colts RB Jonathan Taylor, how that compares to the upcoming opponent) “Yeah, and
definitely getting back to stopping the run this week is how we’re going to kind of forget what happened
last week. It starts at practice, just being sound fundamentally, and everybody getting to the ball.”
(On moving on from the loss yesterday) “Really, after a game like yesterday, you’re ready to get back to
work. After any game, but especially after you lose, you want to get over the film, watch it, and put it
behind you and get back to a new week. It’s like a fresh start, so that’s what we’re looking forward to.”
(On his hit against Eagles QB Jalen Hurts in yesterday’s game and if it felt good to hit a quarterback like
that) “For sure. I wish I was there a half of a step sooner, technique wise, maybe I could’ve gotten there
a little bit sooner and stop him on that fourth down. I want to make that play. I got to make that play.”
