BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University faced its third power five opponent of the season in Oklahoma State on Thursday night, with the match ending in a scoreless 0-0 tie. The Owls’ record now stands at 2-1-2, while Oklahoma State’s mark moves to 3-0-1.

“We were excited about this opportunity tonight,” FAU head coach Patrick Baker said. “Colin (Carmichael) and Karen (Hancock) have done a tremendous job at Oklahoma State, coming in undefeated after a great year last year. I thought in the first half, we were slightly the better team, we were controlling a bit more of the game and creating a bit more opportunities…Full credit to our girls to shutout Miami, then only give up a soft goal against South Florida, and now we have another shutout against a really good Big 12 team in Oklahoma State. We’re proud of the overall effort and execution, and Nikki (Brown) did a great job with the scout, and the girls followed it to a tee.”
“I think we came out and battled hard,” FAU senior captain Hailey Landrus said. “I know we were definitely ready to compete against Oklahoma State who is a Big 12 team that has made it to NCAA’s. I think we showed up and brought the energy, we didn’t necessarily capitalize on some opportunities, but overall we fought really hard…Playing a big team like this, especially in the non-conference season, can only help us in the future. For us, playing a team like this is great, so we have to hold our heads high and keep fighting.”

- The Owls’ trend of playing stout defense continued, as FAU has allowed only one goal over the course of the last four games over 360 minutes
- For the fourth consecutive game, FAU had the advantage in shots, with a 9-6 edge in that category tonight
- FAU had a couple of good scoring opportunities early in the second half, with Gi Krstec taking a strong shot that was stopped by the Oklahoma State keeper in the 52′
- 14 minutes later, Bri Austin had a good opportunity but was stopped by the Cowgirls’ goalie
- Lexi Gonzalez earned her first career shutout in goal for the Owls. Gonzalez stopped four Oklahoma State shots in the second half
- Playing the full 90 minutes along with Gonzalez was defender Jodi Smith, who prevented several Oklahoma State runouts
- Krstec and Amanda Martin logged 89 and 88 minutes respectively
- Krstec paced the offense with four shots
